Working primarily at Botanic Bar at gardens Point campus, you’ll support the Venue Manager in overseeing operations of our licensed venues, creating memorable experiences for students, staff, and visitors.

REQUIREMENTS

This role is designed for a dynamic and motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. As the Bars Duty Supervisor, you’ll play a crucial part in the success of our venues. Here’s what you need to know about the requirements and expectations:

Work Schedule

  • Permanent/full time role - 35 hours per week with TOIL (Time off in lieu) for any additional time worked.
  • No unreasonable overtime expectations!
  • The role is primarily evening and closing shifts, Monday to Friday.
  • Flexibility is essential, as you’ll be required to work some weekends to support private events, Riverstage events and busy periods.
  • Shifts will typically span late afternoons to midnight, ensuring a smooth close and operational handover.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise bar staff and oversee day-to-day operations during your shifts.
  • Ensure compliance with Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) policies and liquor licensing laws.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and handle patron feedback professionally.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels, minimising wastage and reporting discrepancies.
  • Lead the team by example, cultivating a positive and productive work environment.
  • Support the successful execution of events and activations within the venue.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Customer Satisfaction: Maintain high patron satisfaction scores through positive feedback and smooth service delivery.
  • Operational Efficiency: Complete all opening, closing, and operational procedures with 100% accuracy.
  • Stock Management: Minimise wastage and maintain accurate stock records.
  • Revenue Targets: Contribute to meeting or exceeding daily and monthly revenue goals, including shift management to effectively manage labour costs.
  • Compliance: Ensure 100% adherence to RSA policies and audit readiness for licensing regulations.
  • Team Performance: Achieve high staff engagement and positive customer service interactions through strong leadership and mentoring.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within hospitality or bar operations is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of bar operations, including cash handling, stock management, and customer service.
  • RSA Statement of Attainment. 
  • RMVL certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
  • First Aid/CPR certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to remain calm and proactive under pressure, especially during peak periods.
  • Ability to lead a team of up to 5 casual staff members in a fast paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.

Additional Information

  • The annual salary range for the role is $58,000 - $60,000.
